Easy Rabbit Sandwich Tutorial

I have prepared buns from bakery for my kids to bring to school today but they wanted me to make them a sandwich. I have been buying buns quite often this month because of a flu bug(a lazy bug is more likely...hehehe...). So I decided to make a easy sandwich for them today.

Stuff required to make the bunny sandwich:
1.Bread
2.Bread filling of your choice
3.Colored paper
4.Toothpicks
5.Cheese
6.Dried seaweed
7.Strawberry jam
Can your spot the differences?

Steps:

1. To make the rabbit ears, cut colored paper and stick it to toothpicks using double sided tape.

2. Using a bubble tea straw, make a small circle for the rabbit nose.

3. Cut seaweed to form the eyes and nose of the rabbit.

4. Apply blusher to the sandwich using a dab of strawberry jam.

And that's all your need to do.

I bought a cute egg case and put the egg inside. Complete with sauce, packet nuts, a candy and also a packet of milk for recess.

It's Friday! And it's the last day of the month!!! Hurray!!!

Easy Animal Sandwich

It has been more than 2 weeks since I last posted. I was feeling abit under the weather and subsequently my small one fell sick. They have to stay back in school today so I made the effort to make them a sandwich to bring along.

Last week, I visited a new shop that was similar to my favorite $2 shop and bought some cookie cutters. The cutters are so cute that I just want to use them on my kids' sandwiches. There is an elephant, a rabbit and a bear in the set. I made used of all three simply by cutting on cheese.

The sandwich was quite bare so I decided to add a rainbow candy on top.  I used a toothpick to cut the clouds in the cheese. I was too lazy to cut any seaweed since the cutters are cute enough.

Peanut butter filling with the cute animal friends with a colorful rainbow candy. I did not have any suitable fruits for their sandwich box so I replaced with a packet of nuts.

Happy Tuesday!

Monkey Sandwiches for my Little Monkeys

My kids are staying back in school today so I needed to make sandwiches to fill their tummies. I saw a cute monkey from my sketch book and drew the picture on a piece of white paper. After that, I cut out the face as measurement for the sandwiches.

I bend my round mental ring into an oval shape and used it to cut the cheese and bread. I also used a round cutter to cut another slice of cheese and the ears of the monkeys. Dried seaweed is used for the facial expression.
I ran out of bread so I decided to use the crust to make one of the sandwiches. The darker tone is more outstanding but I think they are equally cute. Can you see the difference in color?
As it is going to be a long day, I added a jelly, a small pack of mixed nuts, an egg and a candy for them to last the day.
Can you guess where I got the picture of the monkey? Hint: It is a picture from a branded baby toy retailer. :)

Happy Thursday! Happy MONKEYING around!

Winnie the Pooh Sandwich

My kids said they really really really wanted a Pooh Bear sandwich for school. They kept insisting that I made Pooh Bear sandwiches many times before and it should be chicken feet to me.*sweat* I think they got mixed up with Rilakkuma bear. This is my first time making Pooh Bear character sandwich. Anyway, I do have a small bear shaped cutter and so I made a Pooh bear on the cheese as requested.
It was very time consuming to cut out the seaweed to form the facial expression. It took me about 30 minutes to make the 2 bear heads.  By the time I completed the head, I have no wish to continue making the body. Hee…so I left it as it was.
I only need to slap on peanut butter for the bread this morning and since I had time to spare, I decided to add something. Last minute inspiration to add the name 'POOH' to the sandwich. I used some shape cutters to form the alphabets but using a butter knife or a toothpick to cut the alphabets on the cheese does the trick too! I added quail eggs, cherries and a candy to go along with the sandwich.
I hope my little customers are satisfied with their request today.

Shopkins - Cupcake Queen & Pretzel Sandwich

The kids were eagerly waiting for the launch of the new season of Shopkins toy. They already bought some but they kept hoping that they could get the Cupcake Queen in the mystery pack. Unfortunately, no such luck yet. They would tell me their friend, so and so, has the Cupcake Queen(a rare collectable), or so and so has the whole collection of the Shopkins etc. Well, I am certainly not into the endless madness of buying all the Shopkins and they have to learn to save up on their own for more.

Cupcake Queen
I thought the best I can do is to make them a Shopkins sandwich instead of buying more and more toys. Of course they favorite, Cupcake Queen.  I used yellow butter bread and filled the bread with ham. Cheese for the frosting and cheddar cheese for the triangle crown. I didn't have any colorful sprinkles at home so I cut the colorful strips of candy to bits. The color differed from the original character and but the kids recognized the character instantly and that is good enough for me.

My small one was the first to see the sandwich this morning. She let out squeals of delight and hurriedly drag her sister to check out the sandwich.

Shopkins - Pretzel
Her exact words, "Omg, it's Cupcake Queen!"

The 'cupcake' is not early big and they are staying late in school today so I made another Shopkins character, Pretzel to go along. I used a cookie cutter to cut the yellow cheddar cheese to make Pretzel.

It is really time consuming to make 2 characters sandwich during the morning rush. Even though I prep all the stuff the night before, I was still doing a rush job this morning.

Oops! The box was full just with the two sandwiches so I had to separate the quail eggs and cherries into another box.
Ta-da! Their sandwiches today! I really hope they don't drop the box so that the sandwich can remain intact for them to show their friends during recess.

They wanted the Cupcake Queen so badly, and now they have it! In their tummies! Hahaha….

Lotsa love from Mummy!
